Common Names: Kokanee, Kokanee Salmon.

Anglers Perspective:

The Kokanee provides fisherman in Utah with some exhilarating sport fishing opportunities. Kokanee Salmon are a favorite among anglers in Utah because they fight so hard and are relatively easy to catch once their schools are located. Since they can be caught near the surface, you can expect a athletic display of tail-walking and acrobatics that makes them that much more fun and challenging to land. For those of us that keep and eat fish, Kokanee have the characteristic pink, slightly oily, Omega-3 rich flesh that makes for some great table fare ( See our gourmet Kokanee Salmon recipes). All of these reasons make the Kokanee a prized fish for anglers in Utah.
