Perch Family - Percidae

This family includes two species that were introduced to Utah, the Walleye and the Yellow Pearch. These fish are sought after for their fight and for their table qualities. Adult members are carnivorous and eat other fish. Walleye grow to be the larger of the two species. Yellow Pearch are an important species both valued for food and sport.

  • Spiny-rayed with two well seperated dorsal fins.
  • Ctenoid Scales.
  • Pelvic fins are thoratic in position with a spine and five soft rays.
